My story with Jesus and his church

Sunday mornings often began before dawn as a kid, as my brother and I stumbled into the station wagon and joined our dad as part of the A-Team, the self-designated title of our mobile church’s set up crew. Our family life centered around our church and my faith was formed within this vibrant community.

After I studied music education at Wheaton College, the Lord shook up my plans of becoming a high school choir director. As my wife, Janna, and I started to get involved with the music ministry at Church of the Resurrection, I awakened to what the Lord made me to do: use my gifts as a musician and leader to gather people into the worship of Jesus.

For ten years, I served as the Worship Pastor at Rez, furthering my understanding of Anglican church music and liturgy through a master’s program at Cambridge University (UK). In 2016 I became the Executive Pastor, overseeing the Resurrection staff team.

It was not until after fourteen years of vocational ministry that I received a call to ordained ministry. This led to my ordination to the diaconate and eventually the priesthood in September of 2019. In September of 2020, I was called to serve as the first Dean of Church of the Resurrection, Cathedral of the Upper Midwest Diocese (ACNA). I still see my primary calling as that of a worship leader who gathers our people together in praise of Jesus our Savior.

The Lord has blessed Janna and me with four wonderful and extroverted children. We have sought to continue the heritage of faith we received, centering our family life around Jesus and his Church.

How I serve at Resurrection
As Dean, I oversee the spiritual and organizational life of our Cathedral church. My primary responsibility is to lead Resurrection in fulfilling her mission to invite everyone into a transforming relationship with Jesus and his Church.
