Meet our Pastoral Resident

Dear Resurrection,

I am excited to announce that this fall, Scott Cunningham will be starting a pastoral residency in our diocese. Many of you will recognize Scott because of his role on our preaching and worship teams here at Resurrection for the past 3 ½ years. We asked Scott to introduce himself to us in his own words:

Growing up in Texas and Tennessee, I first came to Chicago to attend Wheaton College, where I studied music, literature, and theology. Upon graduating, I moved to Sheffield, England and accepted an apprenticeship at an Anglican church plant in the city. There I was involved primarily in youth and college ministry, as well as receiving further mentoring and discipleship for pastoral ministry. After two years I moved back to Wheaton to marry my wife Marissa, and we joined Resurrection as I began a Masters in Biblical Exegesis. Since then, God has moved in beautiful ways to knit our hearts to the mission of Rez and the diocese at large. Beyond these things, I am happy listening to Alt-country, pulling a largemouth bass out of the water, and hanging out with my son James.

Scott will be serving on two staff teams in our diocese: our own team here at Resurrection and the team at City of Light Anglican Church in Aurora, our most recent church plant. At Resurrection, he will be providing leadership for our RezGroups ministry, which is launching this fall. At City of Light, Scott will be serving through preaching, worship, and in various other capacities.

Scott’s position as Pastoral Resident is funded in part through Resurrection’s staff budget, City of Light’s budget, and through Scott’s own fundraising. We are excited to partner with City of Light. We will welcome Scott onto staff starting in August.

If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me at

Peace,

Steve
