I am writing to you with an update regarding our Sunday morning worship.
As I announced upfront, we will begin a test run of projecting our worship song lyrics on January 19, 2020.
At Resurrection, we are deeply committed to embodied, sacramental worship. After experiencing projected song lyrics during Wednesday night services, at our conferences, and even on Good Friday and the All-Night Vigil last year, we found that projecting the words actually aided our worship, as people were able to look up to gaze at the cross and altar, and were free to use their hands.
We make changes like this to our culture of worship with great caution, which is why the choice to project song lyrics in our service will be done with careful review by our leaders and of feedback from you.
So just, as a recap, here’s what’s changing on January 19:
- Words to worship songs will be projected instead of printed.
And what’s staying the same:
- Liturgy and hymns will still be printed in the bulletin.
- Service structure will remain the same.
If you have feedback as we test this out during the season of Epiphany, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
With love and gratitude,
