In the spring of 2011, a group of talented artists at Church of the Resurrection came together to create a forty foot high banner of Christ for our Easter Vigil celebration. The result of their collaboration is a modern-day icon called "The Resurrected Christ." This is the powerful story of the making of that banner. In the spring of 2011, a group of talented artists at Church of the Resurrection came together to create a forty foot high banner of Christ for our Easter Vigil celebration. As our church reached the Holy Week destination of Easter morning, I found my mind teeming with details. I hoped I could keep straight, my body stressed, my spirit unsure. I didn't feel tremendously Easter-ish.

As a member of the music team at Church of the Resurrection, I am very aware of the fact that the perspective of a musician is different from that of a congregant. When I am worshiping from the stage, I experience a closeness to the altar, the cross, and the congregation. In particular, I feel the energy of the sanctuary around me in the faces of those in front of me.

Part of imitating Christ is acknowledging the fact that God created us as creative beings. When God created Adam and Eve, He gifted them with imagination and an appreciation for beauty. At Church of the Resurrection we seek to use our artistic and creative gifts to help lead others into the presence and worship of our God. In the middle of September, the worship arts team gathered a group of artists to begin creating art on the theme of imitating God and becoming like Jesus in marriage and celibacy.

The first annual Festival of Lessons and Carols was a wonderful evening of worship and invitation. Over 650 people attended and walked through the readings and music that journeyed from Genesis towards the birth of Jesus. One of the high-points of the service came as we sang the last verse of “O Come, All Ye Faithful.”The first annual Festival of Lessons and Carols was a wonderful evening of worship and invitation. For a couple weeks we’ve been thinking about the vision for 2010 of “Building an Sanctuary of Transformation by Worship and Mission.” This past Sunday Stewart preached on this calling to worship and mission using a painting of The Two Sisters that was sitting in front of the altar and that was on a prayer card. For a couple weeks we’ve been thinking about the vision for 2010 of “Building an Sanctuary of Transformation by Worship and Mission.” This past Sunday Stewart preached on this calling to worship and mission using a painting of The Two Sisters that was sitting in front of the altar and that was on a prayer ...Continue Reading

It actually happened, folks; Resurrection has a real, full-time choir! And if there’s one thing we love doing it’s singing praise to the Lamb—the Name above all Names! We all hope that in some small measure we have helped Resurrection worship this year.
