I have a new-found obsession with egg whites. I set about making these insanely yummy chocolate soufflé muffin cupcake things for Easter brunch, headed for my kitchen, and met my match. I had never separated eggs before, and the chocolatey awesomeness called for egg whites, separated out, and whipped up. Something powerful happens when a church community simply reads the Bible together. This probably sounds boring to a lot of people. No gimmicks. No outlandish sets. No fog machines. Just the true stories of some pretty stubborn people and their fiercely faithful God. But during this year’s Easter Vigil I was struck by the inevitable wonder of these stories and how they teach us the meaning of God’s faithfulness to his people, the Israelites and his church.Something powerful happens when a church community simply reads the Bible together. The first annual Festival of Lessons and Carols was a wonderful evening of worship and invitation. Over 650 people attended and walked through the readings and music that journeyed from Genesis towards the birth of Jesus. On September 13, we’ll be having a Festival and Open House as the kick-off for our Fall Parish Mission. It’s going to be an AWESOME event! We will have food, a folk band and Irish dancers, and a fabulous art show. Over 40 artists are participating this year, displaying and selling paintings, photography, jewelry, stained glass, pottery, hand made cards and other gift items. In addition, beautiful poetry will on display for all to enjoy.
