This year, Church of the Resurrection raised an all-time-record amount for our Good Friday Gift—over $71,000. The gift was given to the Archdiocese of Jos, Nigeria, led by Archbishop Benjamin Kwashi. Fr. Stewart met Archbishop Ben 11 years ago, while both were studying at Trinity School for Ministry. Since then, Archbishop Ben has visited Resurrection once, and we have sent teams to Jos twice—most recently this spring, when Deacon Keith and I visited.
Then last week we got a letter from Deaconess Susan, which included the following excerpts:

Recently, Lon Allison, director of the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College, stopped by to talk with the Resurrection staff about how we are doing with evangelism. He listened as Deacon Keith outlined the bringing part of our mission. Keith described our Fall, Christmas and Easter festivals, our increase in the number of people who have been baptized, and how we've gone from a hardly-evangelistic church to a hopefully-evangelistic church. His response?

If you’re like me, you sometimes find the sheer number of tasks you must accomplish and responsibilities you dare not ignore overwhelming. Between work, friends, family, hobbies, grocery shopping, and budgeting, there seems to be little time (or energy) left to worry about things like global hunger, evil, modern-day slavery, justice. These are big concepts, big issues. How do people find the time, with all this other stuff in their lives, to worry about “causes” when our lives are already so full?If you’re like me, you sometimes find the sheer number of tasks you must accomplish and responsibilities you dare not ignore overwhelming. For a couple weeks we’ve been thinking about the vision for 2010 of “Building an Sanctuary of Transformation by Worship and Mission.” This past Sunday Stewart preached on this calling to worship and mission using a painting of The Two Sisters that was sitting in front of the altar and that was on a prayer card. For a couple weeks we’ve been thinking about the vision for 2010 of “Building an Sanctuary of Transformation by Worship and Mission.” This past Sunday Stewart preached on this calling to worship and mission using a painting of The Two Sisters that was sitting in front of the altar and that was on a prayer ...Continue Reading

Our prayer is that Resurrection will continue to grow as a church that lives an invitational life. Resurrection's own bluegrass band! The Fall Parish Mission began on September 13th with our Festival Day. This celebration wouldn’t have been ...Continue Reading

This Sunday, June 28, is our Nations Sunday where we celebrate that God is moving in the world, awakening the church and the nations to his love. We remember the feast of St. Peter and St Paul (June 29) and other Christians throughout the ages who have been inspired by the Spirit of Pentecost to follow Jesus. We also remember and pray for the people that Church of the Resurrection partners ...Continue Reading
