On an ordinary Tuesday last spring, the Dean of Student Life at an evangelical Christian college in the Midwest said to me, her graduate assistant, "Marcy, the evangelical culture of our campus does a lot to prepare its students for the inevitability of marriage, but we do little to set them up for singleness. We need to do better. You should be the one to speak with them," she decided, "and the title of your talk should be, 'Single by Choice.'"

As Christians, we believe living in the community of the local church is really important. This is where we see God’s presence are transformed into Christ’s image. But living in the beautiful reality of the fellowship of the church community is not an easy thing. On Maundy Thursday we are not confronted with the idyllic Normal Rockwell painting of a blissful, smiling family around a dinner table. No. Instead, we see feet.As Christians, we believe living in the community of the local church is really important. This is where we see God’s presence are transformed into Christ’s image. For a couple weeks we’ve been thinking about the vision for 2010 of “Building an Sanctuary of Transformation by Worship and Mission.” This past Sunday Stewart preached on this calling to worship and mission using a painting of The Two Sisters that was sitting in front of the altar and that was on a prayer card. For a couple weeks we’ve been thinking about the vision for 2010 of “Building an Sanctuary of Transformation by Worship and Mission.” This past Sunday Stewart preached on this calling to worship and mission using a painting of The Two Sisters that was sitting in front of the altar and that was on a prayer ...Continue Reading

Merry Christmas Friends! This year as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus, we also rejoice in the birth of a new church. For those of you who did not hear Fr. Stewart’s announcement this past Sunday, our very own Deacon Matthew will be planting a new daughter and sister church in neighboring Elmhurst. While it will be sad to see our beloved Matthew and Kris transition from their pastoral leadership at Resurrection to this new church in the next six months, it is an absolute joy to see them follow God’s call on their lives!Merry Christmas Friends! Greetings from Light of Christ Anglican Fellowship in Kenosha, Wisconsin!
Light of Christ was founded in January, 2007, by Jan and Michelle Anderson, who were traveling a long distance to attend Church of the Redeemer in Highland Park, IL. Fr. William Beasley commissioned Jan as a catechist, or lay minister, for the work of starting a new Anglican church in Jan’s hometown of Kenosha. After a Lenten period of discernment, the young church called Fr. Eirik Olsen, the associate priest of Church of the Resurrection to be its priest and pastor. The Olsens commuted on Sundays for a year until their Warrenville home sold in May, 2008.
