As a liturgical church, Resurrection is serious about the sacraments. We get really excited about baptisms (just ask the ten babies that were baptized at Easter Vigil!), partaking in the Eucharist, and celebrating marriage. But what about a sacrament like Confirmation, which may not be as familiar to many of us? Rezblog co-editor Tiffany Brenneman interviewed Community Care Coordinator Val ...Continue Reading

In light of the Anglican Mission’s (AM) restructuring and the Anglican Church in North America’s (ACNA) movement toward a midwest diocese, the leadership of both the AM Midwest Network and the ACNA’s Wisconsin and Greenhouse Deaneries has called all interested parishes and parishioners to enter into a discernment process. In the spring of 2011, a group of talented artists at Church of the Resurrection came together to create a forty foot high banner of Christ for our Easter Vigil celebration. The result of their collaboration is a modern-day icon called "The Resurrected Christ." This is the powerful story of the making of that banner. In the spring of 2011, a group of talented artists at Church of the Resurrection came together to create a forty foot high banner of Christ for our Easter Vigil celebration. Last week 10 people from Church of the Resurrection followed the gospel call to “remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison” (Hebrews 13:3). We entered Lincoln Correctional Facility to share the light of Christ and the love of the church to 150 incarcerated women. Since most of us had never been in a prison, we were apprehensive about what—and whom—we might encounter there. Would they listen to our message? Would they join us in worship? Would they accept this Christmas gift we were offering? Would they, so hardened by life’s disappointments, care at all?

3 great questions I’ve gotten about giving to REACH
Over the past few weeks, I’ve had great conversations with many Resurrection people who wanted to talk about giving and how God is leading them. They asked good and hard questions, ones that led to deeper thinking and wrestling and conversation. Here are the three questions I’ve been asked most:

Last year was the first annual Lessons and Carols service at Church of the Resurrection, and even though I was in the choir, I think that one of my favorite moments was at the dress rehearsal a few days prior to the event, when the children's choir joined us for the first time. After months of preparation, we in the "big choir" got to hear for the first time the voices of the children of the church as they partnered with us to prepare some of the traditional carols and anthems we would be singing in the service. Their presence brought a sense of vitality and energy to the music that can only be present when children are.
