Christmas Eve Candlelight Service Photo

For our first holiday season in our new building, we gathered together on Christmas Eve at 5pm for a Candlelight service. In a Sanctuary full with Resurrection family and many friends from the community, the service began in darkness as Pastor of Worship Steve Williamson chanted from the Old Testament prophecies of Jesus’ birth and the congregation responded by singing the phrase, “O come, o come Emmanuel.” Then Fr. Stewart announced the birth of Jesus, “Unto us is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord!”

Wheaton Labor Day Parade Float

Church of the Resurrection had a float in the Wheaton Labor Day Parade this morning. The Rez Folk Band played some high energy renditions of "Peace Like a River," "I Saw the Light," and other folk-gospel favorites. It was a fun way to be a part of our Wheaton community and to let folks know that we are moving into downtown Wheaton later this year. Check out some photos below:

Battle Lines: Jesus Confronted

In The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the Christ figure Aslan is described as unsafe but ultimately good. What does it mean that—like Aslan—Jesus is wild and fierce when faced with opposition?

2012 Holy Week Photos

2012 Easter VigilEach year Holy Week is a profound time of communal and individual reflection and celebration. It is in the dying to ourselves and rising to new life in Christ that we experience in Holy Week that we learn to walk with the Lord throughout the rest of the year. As you continue to pray through you and your family and friends' experience with the Lord this Holy Week, may these images serve as stones of remembrance of what the Lord has done and is continuing to in his people at Church of the Resurrection.

Tenebrae 2011

Tenebrae 2011_02 - congregation01This is the third year that we have offered a Wednesday evening service during Holy Week. Tenebrae is an ancient, contemplative service where light is gradually reduced as a candle is extinguished after each Scripture reading and musical response. It was a beautiful opportunity to experience an overview of the story of Holy Week before we plunge into the narrative in detail in the triduum (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday).

Former Resurrection Member Visits after Planting Church

  Ben Rey Video Still

This Sunday, a former Resurrection member, Fr. Ben Rey and his wife Monica, will be joining us for our Palm Sunday services. After graduating from Wheaton College, Ben moved to Boston where he began an evening prayer group that grew into a new Anglican church plant, Church of the Cross. In this video, Ben shares about the impact Church of the Resurrection has had on that church and what the church looks like now...two years later.
