Kevin, welcome to the staff as our new Associate Rector (officially starting Aug 1)! You’ve been a part of Church of the Resurrection for a while and we get to see you celebrating and preaching regularly on Sunday mornings, but we want to get to know you a little better. So, before we get into some longer questions, how about we start off with a little lightning round?

Join us this Sunday evening, December 13 from 5-6:30 pm for our first annual Festival of Lessons and Carols, a historic church celebration and free Christmas concert featuring our adult choir, children’s choir, and orchestra. The Lessons & Carols service originally started in 1918 England, after World War 1. There’s even a prayer at the beginning of the service remembering the people who died in the war, saying “joining with those worshiping on another shore.” When deciding what to do for a winter parish mission, Steve Williamson noted, “We were looking for a way within our Anglican heritage to invite the community to something that wasn’t a Sunday morning service.”Join us this Sunday evening, December 13 from 5-6:30 pm for our first annual Festival of Lessons and Carols, a historic church celebration and free Christmas concert featuring our adult choir, children’s choir, and orchestra. "you can follow the daily readings, pray through them, discuss them with your family, friends, small groups, prayer cells, and at morning and evening prayer."
Beginning on September 13th, we will be embarking on a 4 Sunday, 21 day journey as a church through the book of Proverbs. Dr. Stephen Gauthier has compiled a 21 day devotional booklet that is a topical organization of passages from Proverbs so that they coincide with the topics of the sermon series.

We arrived safely home from Thailand over the weekend after our 24 hour travels, thankful to be at home and in our own beds. We’re now trying to beat the Chicago heat and jetlag. Our trip flew by…I was most impressed with the staff at the Garden of Hope who live in the reality of a ministry that moves so slowly and on the engine of prayer–yours and mine. Helping women ...Continue Reading

On Sunday, a few days ago, we went as a team to the night market which surrounds a large Buddhist Temple, where monks with shaved heads and orange garments are constantly offering incense to gold statues. And along the thoroughfare, crowded with international shoppers looking for a good deal and yielding to the vendors many wily strategies for parting Westerners from their money, I saw every ...Continue Reading
