Proverbs Devotional Day 3
The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. (16:9)I’ve never been much of a planner. I’ve had dreams and desires along the way, but not always specific plans. One thing I have always wanted was to be married and have children. I never was quite sure how to “plan” for that anyway, as many of you single women will agree. It never occurred to me that the simple act of desiring something good and trusting God to do as He chose was the best preparation I could have had. I had not made specific plans about when and how I would meet certain goals in my life, but I had done a lot of planning and desiring about how I would be a wife and mother. I imagined a joyful home of worship and laughter. I imagined loving my husband and teaching my children. I never “planned” on being a widow at 38 years of age. All of my plans for family life came crashing in at the death of my husband.
