So, we’ve been marking time by acknowledging the redeeming birth, life, passion, death, and resurrection of Christ our Savior, and the gift of the Holy Spirit who, living in the believer, continues the work of Christ across space and time on down through the generations. What do we do now?
Sometimes when I get to this point of the church year calendar, I feel a little let down. All the fuss has cooled a bit, and now we have months and months of ‘ordinary time.’ Yawn. Right? So wrong!

I have a new-found obsession with egg whites. I set about making these insanely yummy chocolate soufflé muffin cupcake things for Easter brunch, headed for my kitchen, and met my match. I had never separated eggs before, and the chocolatey awesomeness called for egg whites, separated out, and whipped up. There the whites sat, runny and pale and kinda gross, in the bottom of my mixing bowl. Not sure what would happen, I turned on my mixer and waded in.I have a new-found obsession with egg whites. As we prepare to walk down this final road leading to the manger, this last week of Advent no doubt looks different for each of us: some of us have runny noses to wipe and brains to wrack for dinner ideas; others have recalcitrant spreadsheets to wrestle into submission before shutting down the computer for a few days off. Some of us have heavy packs of sorrows and challenges that we have carried into the season while others have hearts full of laughter and lightness.
