On November 22, Church of the Resurrection ordained two of our leaders as deacons. On the feast of Christ the King Sunday when we recognize Jesus’ authority over all of our lives, Stephen Gauthier and Keith Hartsell were a picture of how everyone in the church is called to give their lives to our King. We thought we would catch up with them and ask them a few questions about what this whole ordination process has been like for them. Consider this our chance as a church to get to know the two newest deacons who will be serving and ministering to us.On November 22, Church of the Resurrection ordained two of our leaders as deacons. For the last five years my wife Bonnie and I have traveled to my parents house in Michigan for Thanksgiving. We were in college and dating when we made this trip for the first time. Now we’re filling the car up with the diaper bag, high chair, and pack-and-play for our daughter Eleanor’s first Thanksgiving! A few years ago my family was looking for ways to add some meaningful traditions to our Thanksgiving celebration. For the first time we made appetizers – some veggies and dip, stuffed mushrooms, and cheese and crackers. We sat together in the living room and snacked for a while as the scents of Thanksgiving turkey wafted from the kitchen. For the last five years my wife Bonnie and I have traveled to my parents house in Michigan for Thanksgiving. But there’s a lot more to Trader Joe’s than your checklist.

Greetings from Light of Christ Anglican Fellowship in Kenosha, Wisconsin!
Light of Christ was founded in January, 2007, by Jan and Michelle Anderson, who were traveling a long distance to attend Church of the Redeemer in Highland Park, IL. Fr. William Beasley commissioned Jan as a catechist, or lay minister, for the work of starting a new Anglican church in Jan’s hometown of Kenosha. After a Lenten period of discernment, the young church called Fr. Eirik Olsen, the associate priest of Church of the Resurrection to be its priest and pastor. The Olsens commuted on Sundays for a year until their Warrenville home sold in May, 2008.
