Church of the Resurrection

Mission

God is on mission. Christ calls every true follower to participate in his mission - at work, at home, with our friends and neighbors, and with the poor and marginalized.

There are three ways in which our church family participates in organic evangelism: Alpha, Global Mission and Local Mission.

Alpha

Alpha is a worldwide phenomenon that's been offered in over 170 countries, and more than 25 million people have tried it!

In addition to the Alpha course here at Resurrection, we would love to equip you to run an Alpha course in your home or workplace. It's easy! Please reach out to Pastor Matt (matt@churchrez.org) if you're interested in learning more.

Global Mission

Our vision for Global Missions at Resurrection is to go where the Church is not visible or viable. That includes areas where there is little to no access to the good news of Jesus, and places where the Church is under attack. To understand the rationale and passion behind this vision watch this moving, though-provoking 4-minute video.

We have key partnerships with the churches of the Diocese of Jos, Nigeria and the Diocese of Singapore. We also partner with missionaries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. You can see their pictures on the south wall of All Saints Chapel.

On Good Friday, we take an offering to support one of these global partners in a special way.

If you are considering serving as a missionary, we'd love to talk to you! Reach out to matt@churchrez.org to set up a meeting.

Local Mission

Our ministries to the poor and marginalized of our community are rooted in our desire to walk with the poor rather than do projects for the poor. We believe in the dignity of every human being and we seek to love, protect and empower the vulnerable.

We focus on four groups of people:

During Advent we collect gifts to support one of our local ministry partners.

Walk Across the Street

For the past few years, our diocese has been in an intentional ministry partnership with True Freedom Cornerstone, a primarily black church in Oak Park, IL. In an effort to build friendship and connection, Pastor Michael Wright (the pastor of True Freedom) and Missioner General William Beasley of the Greenhouse Movement are calling our diocese to form multiple teams of about five people each to visit different black churches throughout the West Side of Chicago.
