For more information, contact Stephen Gauthier at 630-462-7098.
Held at Glenbard West High School, in the Choir Room.
New CLT Class: The First 150 Years After the Apostles
Sundays through August 23
9:00 am - 10:00 am
Glenbard West
Find out what the first successors of the apostles had to say to the Church of their day. We will be looking at a number of primary documents from 100 AD- 250 AD and discussing what these early church fathers thought about Scripture, the unity of the Church, the Lord's Prayer, the story of salvation through Jesus alone and the faithful witness of the martyrs. If you missed some of the earlier sessions, you can still pick up copies of the previous documents at the CLT class. Barbara and Stephen Gauthier and Andrew Merrick will lead the discussions.
June 29 an anonymous sermon from the second-century -- practical advice for Christian living
July 6 The Martyrs of Lyons (177 AD) -- an eyewitness account of what happened
July 13 Irenaeus of Lyons Against Heresies (c. 185) -- on Scripture
July 20 Irenaeus of Lyons Against Heresies (c. 185) -- on Tradition and Church Unity
July 27 Irenaeus of Lyons Against Heresies (c. 185) -- Recapitulation and Theosis (Jesus as the ultimate divine "do-over")
August 3 Cyprian of Carthage (c. 235 AD) -- on the Lord's Prayer (part 1)
August 10 Cyprian of Carthage (c. 235 AD) -- on the Lord's Prayer ( part 2)
August 17 Hippolytus of Rome Apostolic Tradition (c. 220) -- the earliest known Sunday liturgy (and how-to book for ordinations and church ceremonies)
August 23 Cyprian of Carthage (c. 240 AD) -- on the Unity of the Church
Joel Scandrett will lead the half day retreat with guidance for reorienting ourselves before the Lord, laying before Him our priorities, plans, goals, desires, and listening for His direction. The morning will be spent in worship together, in quiet solitude, and with one or more brothers in Christ so as to better hear from the Lord and to serve one another. There will be no food and no cost for this retreat. Come even if you decide at the last minute. This may be the most important thing you do to keep perspective and stay on or redirect your course. Bring a Bible and notebook. If you have a Book of Common Prayer, bring that as well.
Held at Glenbard West High School, in the Choir Room.

The Church of the Resurrection is built on prayer and fasting. Join us in fasting and prayer on September 10 as we gather to seek the Lord's face and commit the coming ministry year into His hands. We will worship and receive the Eucharist together as the body of Christ. As the Church, we will anoint and pray for all those whom the Lord is raising up to minister to His people both here at Rez and in the community. Come and let us seek the Lord together and receive from Him His abundant provision for the year ahead.
