A Practical Theology of Animals: Part 1 by Matt Farrelly

57:29 minutes (26.31 MB)

Recently, the Chicago Tribune has featured articles on luxury motels for dogs, animal airlines, organ transplants for pets, and even funeral rites for deceased animals.  Are animals being unduly elevated to the status of surrogate children?  What ought the Christian attitude be toward animals?  On November 1, 8, and 15 our own animal experts, veterinarians Nancy and Aaron Vigil, and Matt Farrelly (who received his M.A. in theology from Wheaton) address the “theology of animals.”  What does scripture say about the relationship of humans to other animals?  How does American practice conform to these theological principals?  And what about animals as sources of food? The first session is taught by Matt Farrelly, who outlines a theology of creation, part 1.

An Advent Study: The Second Coming: What in the World are We Waiting For? Part 2 by Matt Farrelly

60:02 minutes (27.48 MB)

Advent is the season we recall Jesus’ first coming and look forward to his next.  But what, exactly, are we waiting for?  Surprisingly, many Christians lack a clear understanding of what they’re living their whole lives to attain.  Will we spend eternity in heaven, and what’s that like?  What does heaven have to do with the new heavens and the new earth?  What difference does it make to our lives now that Jesus will return to “judge the living and the dead?”  The adult education leadership team will lead us in exploring these and related questions.
