Anglicanism After Lambeth: Part 1 by Barbara Gauthier

68:14 minutes (31.23 MB)

The Anglican Communion just ended its once-a-decade meeting at which bishops from all over the world gather together with the Archbishop of Canterbury at Lambeth Palace to discuss important concerns facing the church. The theological and political turmoil in the communion was in full display at Lambeth. But what did this conference accomplish for the Anglican Church, and how does it affect Church of the Resurrection and the Anglican Mission in America of which we are a part? Our resident expert, Barbara Gauthier, and Tim Morgan, deputy managing editor of Christianity Today (who attended both GAFCON and Lambeth and has interviewed many of the key players of the Communion), will discuss what may prove to be a watershed moment in the history of the Anglican Church.

When God Is Silent: Part 2 by Barbara Gauthier

53:34 minutes (24.52 MB)

The Psalmist frequently laments: Why do you hide your face and forget our misery and oppression? (Psalm 44:24)?  And Isaiah reminds us: “Truly you are a God who hides himself, O God and Savior of Israel (Isaiah 45:15). C.S. Lewis complained of the crushing silence of heaven at the time of his wife’s death. How can we understand the silence of a God who promises “behold, I am with you, even to the end of the age.” In this session, Rez member Barbara Gauthier talks about John of the Cross and his classic text, The Dark Night of the Soul.

In this session, Rez member Barbara Gauthier will lead us in a study of Brother Lawrence.
